Back when I moved into my very first apartment I felt like I was entering a brand new life.
Up until that point I had lived with my parents and three brothers all of my life, and for some reason I assumed that life being a tenant would be totally different.
It has been a few months since I moved in however, and at this point I think it’s safe to say that life living on my own isn’t all that different from when I was living with my parents. If I had to say, I think that the only thing I have noticed a change in is the responsibilities around my apartment never get resolved unless I take action. Whenever there is a problem that comes up with my old and run down air conditioning unit, which happens more often than I would like, I am the only one who is going to reach out to an HVAC professional for help. During my first week of living on my own I actually ended up going five straight days without a working air conditioner because for some reason I thought I would come home from work one day and find it working again. Call me naive if you want, you’re probably right. Other than that however, life living on my own has been surprisingly good. I never have to get my nap ruined by my brothers running into my room, and my parents can no longer give me a hard time about coming home late after a night with my friends. Considering how scared I was when I first moved out, I would say that life living on my own isn’t so bad after all.
