Maintenance contracts take the guesswork out of filter changes and unseen problems

I had to buy a dry erase marker board the other day because of how forgetful I’ve become as of late.

I have resisted the thought of writing myself lists and kept insisting to myself that they would not help, and if anything seeing a list would just stress me out until it was completed.

All of this melted away after I bought a large white board and hung it up in my home office. It is now my savior with getting everything in my life done on a week by week basis. I put all of my work projects up there, as well as any errands I need to run, chores I need to complete, or necessary maintenance around the house. For the longest time, I was writing the dates of my HVAC filter changes so that I could replace them every six weeks. This was definitely working for awhile, but then I considered getting an actual maintenance contract with my heating and cooling supplier. Not only would the yearly fee cover all of the service visits throughout the course of 12 months, but it would also include all filter changes. That meant no longer paying $15 every six weeks just to put in new filters. I could also remove this chore and store errands from my large white board, leaving room for other things I need to do around the house. It’s also really comforting knowing that my HVAC equipment is getting regular inspections in case there are ever complications in the future. It’s like monitoring for cancer regularly and catching it the moment it arrives. I’m no longer worrying for months on end if there could be an unseen problem with my air conditioner or furnace.
