When I do get paid, I want to have fun.
I’m working and going to college full-time. I want my independence so I have an apartment of my own. The apartment isn’t my own, because I do share with a couple of girls. I can’t understand why my parents are so mad at me. When we got together for Thanksgiving, we did the same old thing. Everyone said what they were thankful for and then we said a prayer of thanks and ate dinner. When I said I was thankful for the new AC unit in my apartment building, my mom about had a hissy fit. She said I was superficial. My friends and I only moved into this housing unit because they were installing a new AC unit. Hey! We live in the south and air conditioning is important. I didn’t preface it with saying I was thankful for my family and for the new AC? What is the big deal with that? According to my sister, I never was the most respectful person, and I was always selfish. It isn’t like I was saying anything they shouldn’t have expected, I had been complaining about the AC for the last three months. You’d think my dad would have laughed and said it was about the new AC unit had been installed. Instead, mom went to bed with a sick headache and I had to go back to the apartment without the obligatory leftovers from Thanksgiving dinner. At least I had good air conditioning to go home to.
