Once a year I make hte voyage up north to visit my family members.
It is pretty annoying that my family still stays in the north. It is not as good up there, plain and simple. The people aren’t as friendly, the social climate is a mess and everything is taxed. Additionally, the weather is just plain horrible. I have a very small window on when I can visit my family. I really hate the cold now and refuse to go when it is chilly. In the north, that is basically all year. The cold can start as early as September and linger until around June. That means I get around three months that I can travel and be kind of warm. There is no guarantee and the nights get really cold. Since my parents run the heater basically all year, they are not going to run it in the summer if it is chilly. I just need to suffer. Additionally, on what would be a mild day in the south, it is a hot northern day. On comes the air conditioning in my parent’s home and in all the local businesses. It is like the people are desperate to run their AC systems. On a 75 degree day the cooling systems will all be running. Aren’t they tired of being cold? I try to mention staying at a hotel where I can control my room thermostat. My parents always act offended and I get stuck staying in their home where the temperatures aren’t great. It is only for about a week though.
