Preventing mold with a whole house dehumidifier

There are many things that mold can do to your home, such as destroy areas, cause sickness, and lead to an unsafe living environment. A whole-house dehumidifier can be used to remove excess moisture from your air in order to reduce humidity levels to a level where mold and mildew are unable to grow. The relative humidity, or RH for short, is a measurement that’s used to determine whether or not mold will grow in a specific area under certain conditions. In terms of mold growth, anything that is above 60% is considered a threat. As a general rule, it is usually when the relative humidity of your house is above 70% that mold really begins to flourish in it. You must keep your relative humidity (RH) at below 60%, which can be accomplished with the help of your whole house dehumidifier. It is important to keep in mind that the warmer the air is when it enters your air conditioner, the harder your AC has to work to cool your home down. Your AC doesn’t bring in air, read its temperature, and then get that specific “batch” of air to a desirable temperature. It just keeps going, pulling in air, cooling it, and sending it through your ductwork to your vents. As long as the thermostat is able to read the temperature of the room, it will know when to turn it off. When your home is filled with humid air, your air conditioner will take longer to cool it down. It helps to remove humidity, but that’s not its main job. It needs help from a dehumidifier. Removing humidity from the air will not kill existing mold. When the relative humidity falls below 60%, mold spores can lay dormant, so they will still be present. Mold removal is necessary if mold already exists in your home. The purpose of a whole house dehumidifier is not to kill existing mold, but rather to prevent it from growing. Before you introduce a dehumidifier, you must remove any mold in your home, otherwise the problem could persist even after the humidity is reduced.

Dripping noise coming from your AC

If you hear a dripping noise coming from your AC, it could lead to big problems down the road. You may be experiencing this issue because your condensate line is clogged. Moisture accumulates in your AC from its normal operation, but it isn’t supposed to stay there. The condensate is sent outside through a condensate line. Having a clogged condensate line can cause water to pool and drip. It’s not too difficult to clear out a condensate line. You can do it yourself, but if you want to ensure that it’s done correctly, you should hire a technician. Dripping noises could also indicate that your air filter needs to be changed. How could the air filter lead to a dripping sound? It is possible for your evaporator coil to freeze over if airflow is restricted. Before the coil actually freezes, you may hear water dripping inside the unit during the freezing process. To prevent freezing, warm air must be drawn in and pushed over the coils. By changing your air filter every 30-60 days, you can ensure this happens. It is also possible that your condensate pan is blocked, resulting in the dripping noise. Just beneath the evaporator coil, the condensate pan collects moisture pulled from the air. Imagine it as a drip tray that directs moisture away from the coil and into the condensate line. Over time, dirt and debris can build up in your condensate pan and eventually block it. Additionally, mold and mildew growth can build up in the condensate pan and block the line. It is important to clean your condensate pan regularly, but it should also be disinfected to prevent mold growth. After this, your condensate pan should drain perfectly and no longer cause you problems. A technician can tell you for sure if dripping sounds coming from your AC are a sign of a serious problem.

Most common duct repair problems

A call for AC duct repair can refer to a variety of different types of repairs.

Duct repair shouldn’t be necessary too often.

It may take a decade before something goes wrong with your ductwork, but if it’s installed improperly, those problems appear much sooner. When ductwork isn’t installed properly, leaks occur, damages can occur sooner, and airflow around your house will be uneven. It’s possible that one vent in your home is strong, while another is weak or barely producing enough air. This leads to massive energy waste and inefficiency, which can cause your air conditioner to work harder than it should and wear it down more quickly. Did you know your insulation can go bad? It depends on the type of insulation that you have. Certain insulation can last up to a century. Other types will expire in about 15–20 years. The insulation in your ductwork may be causing you to spend more energy than you should to heat and cool your home if it has not been changed in over a decade. Your HVAC system spends a lot of energy each month to keep the temperature of the air at a comfortable level. You are supposed to let this cool air flow through your vents and change the temperature in your home as a result. It is important to mention that leaky ducts are a cause of two major problems that directly affect your ability to heat and cool your home. Your checklist before summer

Ensure your air conditioner is operating at its best before summer arrives.

Before you turn on your AC, run through a quick checklist to make sure it’s ready.

It is a good idea to check the seals on your air ducts. If they aren’t sealed completely, they can leak cool air from your AC into your attic and walls. It is also a good idea to clean out your drain pipes. The condensate drain line runs from your AC cabinet and removes water from your AC. It is possible for your drain pipes to become clogged and need to be cleared. This condensation cannot run through the lines when they’re clogged (usually with debris and mold). In this case, it pools in your AC and, depending on the circumstances, can cause the evaporator coil to freeze over. Lines need to be cleared. Checking electrical connections is also a crucial step on the AC checklist, though this isn’t something you should attempt on your own. It is essential that a technician inspects your AC’s electrical connections to ensure that they are working properly and that they are in good condition. There are very few instances in which electrical fires start inside an air conditioner, but it is one of those situations where it is better to be safe than sorry. Also, a technician will be able to tell you if there are any bad wires in your system that will need to be replaced before they will cause a bigger problem down the road. An insured and licensed HVAC technician can give your air conditioner a full tune up even if you run through a list. An annual maintenance will serve as a tune-up if you already have one. Having your air conditioner serviced right before summer begins will ensure it lasts through every rough summer day. It’s much easier to prepare for summer now that you know what your AC needs. You’re effectively reducing the risk of your AC breaking down by quite a bit by ensuring that it doesn’t run into additional trouble.

The sweaty cooling contractor

I felt bad for the cooling contractor this week.

It was a genuinely sizzling afternoon in the summer and the temperatures were reaching the 90s, and of course that is when my cooling system decided to go out on me.

There was no way I could go without cool a/c in these kinds of weather conditions, and so I called a heating and cooling professional to come and maintain the Heating and A/C component for me. To be honest, I was fully expecting that they would be too busy and would have to come out on a different afternoon, because usually when it is super sizzling like this week they have a lot of appointments with other people in the same situation. But no, they actually had availability and could send a heating and cooling worker out in a few hours. When the cooling system specialist arrived, he started working on my cooling component instantly. I watched from my window out of curiosity. I kind of felt bad for the cooling contractor though because as he was working on the cooling machine I could tell he was sweating very badly working in that sizzling heat. I made sure to get him a cold glass of water when he was done repairing the cooling system device to show my thanks for bringing comfort in my crib once again. It took about 27 minutes but then he was done and he was grateful for the cold drink. I told him he could take the cold drink with him, and thanked him again for his hard work on such a sizzling hot afternoon.

I find heating systems difficult to understand

I would rather be lazy and pay someone else to maintain the problem for me.

I am sure thrilled we have heating and a/c contractors because I find Heating and A/C technology and cooling system devices in general to be confusing. I have had various people who have a better understanding of heating and cooling than I do, try to explain how it works and the basics of repair. For me, it goes in one ear and out the other. I genuinely can’t remember how to maintain anything, and I find air conditioners and heating units to be especially confusing. And that is why I am having a heating worker come out this week, to maintain the cooling system component, because I sure couldn’t do it on my own. Honestly, even if I did have a better understanding of heating and cooling system devices, I still would rather let someone else deal with them than deal with them myself. I would rather be lazy and pay someone else to maintain the problem for me. And that is exactly what a/c contractors are for. The heating and air conditioner expert is supposed to be here in a few hours, and when he arrives I will make sure to thank him for his hard work and for making sure my cooling device is in great working order. I know it certainly isn’t the best job out there, but we need cooling and heating techs because without them there would be no indoor comfort. While I wait for the heating and cooling system professional, I will run a few errands and by the time I am done he should be about at my home.

Electric heating

Very thrilled with zone control

It has saved me almost half of my bills each month and that is incredible! All from just changing a temperature control

I am quite pleased with how my zone control turned out. Also, I had heard a lot about how great smart temperature controls are, compared to the seasoned dial temperature control, but I wasn’t so convinced! People would spend a lot of time talking about how sleek and up-to-date they looked and how nice the touch screen was. I was never fascinated by up-to-date technology, I mean it is cool and everything, but nothing to obsess over. But I ended up getting a smart temperature control anyway. Why? Well my seasoned temperature control was messing up and I needed to get an up-to-date one anyways, and when I asked what the heating and a/c pro thought was the best temperature control, he recommended a smart temperature control because it is the best one for saving money. So I decided to get one because of that, even though the price of the smart temperature control made me think otherwise. But now after having it for a month, I am so thrilled that the heating and cooling system tech recommended getting a smart temperature control, and I understand why so many people suggest the temperature control now. It has saved me almost half of my bills each month and that is incredible! All from just changing a temperature control. I am passionate about up-to-date temperature control and now I wish I had gotten one sooner. I am thinking about posting a video showing how thrilled I am with my newest Heating and A/C technology addition to my flat. I suppose a video explaining how great these temperature controls are could help a lot of people.

Our heating and cooling system

I am genuinely thrilled with the recent visit I made to a local store.

The local store is a heating and cooling store, which I don’t see too many of.

I decided to visit out of curiosity and to see if it was like the previous heating and cooling system store that I had seen. The previous heating and a/c store I went to, well, let’s just say I wasn’t certainly impressed! Despite being a Heating and A/C store, they had the worst a/c unit I had ever experienced! It felt more like a factory in there, it was so sizzling hot and overheated, it was horrible. And don’t even get me started on the air quality inside either. Again, this was a Heating and A/C store, but yet their indoor air quality was entirely awful and it felt so stuffy in there it was hard to breathe, and needless to say I never returned to that store again. So when I walked into this store, and felt ice cold crisp a/c, I knew this place was already going to be much better. This cooling place had a nice array of different heating and cooling system technology, and it was super cool. I actually found myself tempted to buy a smart temperature control, but that is something I will certainly save for the future, as hard as it is. Anyways, I was quite thrilled with this up-to-date store, and I knew it was going to be convenient if I ever needed parts for my heating and a/c equipment.

I will clean the heating unit

Generally speaking I am not a fan of change, although it depends on what it is.

I don’t mind doing some things differently, but I usually like to stick with my same old routine.

I always had a central heating and a/c machine at my home, and I kind of always thought it would stay that way. I have had a central Heating and A/C since I was young, and since it had always worked for me, I never wanted to change it. However, now I am faced with the possible decision of having a heat pump, a geothermal heat pump to be certain, instead of my beloved central Heating and A/C system. I know some people would feel that I am dramatic for making such a big deal out of things, but I like what I like and I don’t care what other people think. Anyways, since my fiance and I have moved to a different state, our heating and cooling requirements are now different from our previous home. Because of this, my fiance brought up the idea of getting a geothermal heat pump, and he told me that this form of heating and cooling will work better for our condo than a central cooling system. Although it is called the heat pump, it actually can cool as well. Heat pumps are supposed to be cheaper as well, so there are absolutely some nice benefits. But regardless, I still wanted to keep the central Heating and A/C system, and this is something my fiance and I are just going to have to talk about down the road.

Air con system going strong

I feel like a brand new up-to-date man after such a great sleep last night, I just wish I could bottle it and use it on all the other days too.

Some days I’ll only sleep five hours and wake up feeling groggy like I was doped up with something.

I suppose going to bed early is genuinely important for me, especially at almost 56 years old. I feel like a seasoned man periodically when I think about how I used to go out around the same time and celebrate all night till the wee hours of the morning. But a/c in my bedroom and a great book sound more enticing to me than going to a bar and drinking a bunch of shots, or enjoying a soccer game while listening to some loud songs while trying to talk with a stranger. Bars are fun when you are younger because they are a novelty and you suppose you are a member of some special club. But I would rather have my cats on my lap with my air purification system running beside me and drowning out all of the noise from the loud clubs around me. I know getting older your thoughts and ways change, and it is great to evolve and not get stuck in the same seasoned patterns that take you nowhere. The HEPA filter lady salesperson told me it is great to evolve when you age and aging is not a bad or great thing, it is just a thing. I am great with getting older, as long as I have a nice HEPA a/c filter!
