I live in an area with terribly long and serious Winter seasons… We often start up the heating equipment in early November and rely on it until the end of April. Because of uneven temperatures easily below zero, every one of us need to keep the property sealed and remain indoors. I spent a small fortune on heating bills and made sure to take undoubtedly fine care of the heating equipment. I change the air filter every other month and hire professional repairs for the fall season. Since even the fall and Springtime seasons are often nippy and wet, it’s seldom possible to open up the windows. I look forward to the more toasty weather. I am relieved to shut down the heating equipment and welcome some fresh air inside! The last thing I want to do is close the windows back up, start up the central a/c equipment and pay a large electric bill. My family spends most of the Summer outside. We tend to only come back inside at night for supper and to sleep. We’re able to get by with window a/c equipment and box fans. Although having cooling units in the windows isn’t very beautiful, these systems are not high and cost and are convenient. I was able to invest in a top-of-the-line window a/c for under $200. I can install the component into the window in less than ten minutes. Most newer window a/cs allow programmable operation. Despite the small size, these units are powerful enough to cool the room in a short amount of time. Even in those overheated and sticky Summer mornings, we can actually sleep comfortably.
