When Dion was new to her area, she became fast friends with her neighbor… They had come over to help her move furniture, however dion’s neighbor had the loveliest sons plus they helped her so much, and once she was settled, she baked them one of her famous chocolate cakes as a way to say thank you, plus that sealed their friendship. The guys are always at her home when there’s something baking because they say she has magic fingers. Dion isn’t sure about that, but she always tells her granny thank you for teaching her how to bake, however last winter, Dion had arrived home on a Wednesday evening so tired, but she got take out because she was in no mood to cook, plus just wanted to relax, but her plan was to have something to eat, stand on the couch, turn on her number one series, laugh a bit, then it’s off to bed; As she was finishing her meal, Dion’s iphone rang plus it was her neighbor, however it seems something was wrong with their heating system plus they were asking to come over. Dion didn’t hesitate to let them into her home since her heating system was working fine. She then changed the control device settings to make the home even warmer so they could be comfortable. Dion’s neighbor disclosed she had skipped fall repair since she was so tied up at work, plus now their heating system had failed. There was nothing they could do until the next day when the heating specialist came to a diagnosis. Dion let the guys sleep on the sofas while her neighbor slept in the guest study room upstairs.

I kept looking at my phone to see if there was a notification from the bank that Nate had deposited the money to buy a new furnace.

The money was meant for our son’s upkeep, but since I took care of the rest, I would use the money to hire a heating specialist to take care of the HVAC installation. I had done my homework regarding heating equipment, and I was sure of what I wanted. Despite having done my research, I still consulted a heating dealership to ensure I had chosen the right heating device. If I asked Nate for money to purchase a quality HVAC from the heating company, he would flat-out refuse, so I had to use my ways. We had everything we needed: an electric heater with energy-efficient heating tech plus a smart thermostat to help with indoor comfort. No more heating repairs every so often. The heating technician confirmed that I had made an excellent choice and could go ahead and purchase. A day passed, and then three, and he had yet to send the money. I started to get that crippling feeling when he pulled a fast one on me, which was his specialty. It was time to get back to the drawing board and see where I could cut back to raise the money faster. I would also need heating maintenance before then. I did not bother asking since he would ignore my calls and messages or he would offer the usual lies. Two weeks later, Nate sent the money. He even sent extra money, which was very unlike him. After her surgery, she contemplated going back to work but realized that she would occasionally have trouble with her back, and she had to admit to her stubborn self that those days were behind her. That did not mean that she did not occasionally help a friend with their HVAC installation or fireplace. Grace also kept up with the changes in heating devices and technology and took great care of her boiler. The only time she sought out another heating technician was when she wanted to install another heating equipment. Installing the electric heater would have been strenuous exercise for her. She was glad she did because after they installed the electric furnace and thermostat, they had time to catch up with her friend. Between her online business and other obligations that life tosses one’s way, time to socialize tends to take a back banner more often than not.

I was just at the beach and a whole bunch of students were coming out to enjoy the day in the sand.

But as soon as they got out there it started to rain so I got on my bike and headed home. I looked back in the rain and the kids were all still out there playing and just ignoring the rain. It is a bit sad when you see the youthful energy and spirits of the kids and remember how you used to be yourself. Life is a bit sad when you look back in the rearview, but HVAC work keeps me going and tells me that I am still a useful part of this world. It is easy to get pushed aside when you are older to make way for the younger folks to take over, but I am still good with the heating and cooling work, as long as my body keeps holding out. I’ve put a lot of miles on my body and sometimes I feel like an old worn out rocker still trying to make a name for himself. But like the local contractor said, there is always room to grow in life no matter how old you are. So I will keep pushing out in different directions and try to grow in ways that I never have in the past. I still do well with the space heater sales and repairs in the shop and I still enjoy working with the other HVAC workers in the company. Life goes on and hopefully we keep enjoying the ride the whole time.

Today is a dreary day out and it is a bit empty feeling as there is nobody anywhere out on the streets.

Days like these are good days to practice patience and to be gentle and kind to yourself.

It would be easy to feel sorry for myself for all of the things I’ve lost recently, but that doesn’t help me at all to become a better version of myself. I have a nice warm place to live, a very cool roommate, and two loving cats to keep me company while I make my way through life here overseas. The HVAC contractor in town keeps me busy with work and I have a handful of nice heating worker friends to talk with each week here in the small beach town I live in. I found a wallet today and I messaged the girl who lost it, which I am sure will be contacting me soon about grabbing it. I will work online today doing my heating and cooling articles and then I’ll do a long meditation session and meet up with a yoga student later on for a short session. We are supposed to play some music later on the street but if the rain keeps coming down then I think we will have to postpone it till Wednesday when it is sunnier. The temps are cooling down this week and it looks like we will have a few more weeks of cool weather before the temps start heating up and getting really hot for the summer season. I like the cool weather for now though.
New heating and cooling information

For some reason I am the finder of lost things, as I just found a wallet loaded with credit cards and ID’s on the pier by the sea.

A few months ago I found a backpack with an expensive computer and important papers inside. The guy gave me $50 when he picked up his computer, which was his work computer filled with years of work, but I didn’t expect to get any money. Now I have this wallet and just messaged the owner on Instagram so I am sure she will be by soon to grab it. The local contractor lost his keys and wallet and I found that too a few months ago. I’ve found a lot of stuff from people over the years and feel good when they come by and pick it up. I was doing an HVAC system repair job one time and I left my wallet with a bunch of money on the air conditioner outside. Luckily, the owner of the home found it and returned it to me later that day, which was a miracle to me because I thought it was long gone. I had my five weeks of pay from the local contractor shop where I work in that wallet and I thought I would never see it again. I gave the owner $100 for returning my wallet, which happened to have $2000 cash in it from a check I just cashed at the bank. I was so happy because I worked hard on ductwork those five weeks and had nothing to show for it when I lost the wallet.

Energy saving help

Today is Monday and it looks like we have a rainy one going on outside.

I will go out in a few minutes and see what is happening out there today. I bet it is pretty quiet though because when it is rainy like this most of the tourists stay home and don’t visit our town. And during the weekdays it is quieter here because most people are working or going to school. We may play some music later but it depends on the weather and if it is going to rain on us or not. It’s cooling down a bit as we have a cool front coming through and I am actually thinking about running the heating system for a bit to take the chill out of the air. My cats just had their morning meal and are now both asleep on the sofa, which is right here in front of me while I work in my office with the door open to see them. They like to sleep near the air purifier because the humming sound makes them feel safe, and the HEPA filter inside of it is good for me because it removes a lot of the stuff floating around in the air in the flat. I will teach yoga to a student later this afternoon and then maybe play some drums and sing a bit with my bandmate. I need to see if he is working at the heating dealership today or not and what time he can play when he is done doing his duct cleaning job, if he works today that is.

Luckily I don’t have to live in an old flat anymore like I used to a few years ago.

I am just scraping by right now but I live in a nice new flat and have a cool flatmate to help bear the burden of the rent and utilities. My buddy may be moving in with me in a couple months if he can work up the nerve to move overseas like I did many years ago. My family is still back in the States and I see them each year, but my life basically is lived over here. Heating and cooling system repairs is my main gig during the weekdays and chasing the music dream is what I do on the weekends and some weeknights. I will never be a famous rockstar, but I am fine with just playing music for a small group and having fun with the whole process. If I had the chance to do it all again I’d have not been an HVAC worker but a drummer in a band when I was a teen, and I would have taken lessons when I was young and put all my energy into the band. At 56 years old I pretty much used up all of my youthful energy and have just enough to work on air conditioners or heating devices and a little bit of playing in the band each weekend. We have a pretty cool sound and we can probably play in clubs around town but it won’t amount to much more than that I am sure. I’m fine with that though.
