Choked up gas furnace misdiagnosed

My neighbors, the Wilsons, had lived near me now for 2 years. Our children played together and we regularly had dinners together. They had an old heating and cooling unit that always seemed to have an issue. There seemed to always be HVAC representatives visiting their premises. They also had a dog Kenny that my kids absolutely adored. The Wilsons were amazing people who loved animals and loved taking care of the neighborhood. They had woken up to a rumbling noise from their basement. When Mr. Wilson checked he found that the gas furnace was the cause of the noise. Since I had a heating business and knew more about HVAC, they contacted me to come to check on their heating device. The first thing I checked was the climate control device which seemed to be functioning perfectly. Then I proceeded to the cooling install to ensure that it had been done right. When I checked the air conditioning filter, I discovered that it was all clogged up with dirt and dust particles which were what was causing the noise from the electric heater. I contacted the office and requested they send an a/c rep to check on the indoor air cleaning system and perform the boiler repair. As we executed the quality AC service, we discovered that the oil heater had a crack that threatened to become worse. So we replaced it before it caused a bigger issue. The Wilsons were not shocked at how much their unit needed a replacement as they were aware that it was aging. This was a three-day job which meant that the house was cold during those days. I offered them my radiant heater to maintain their indoor comfort as their unit was being repaired.
