I Took Out a Loan For My New Furnace

I couldn’t go without a furnace, and I didn’t have the money to buy one upfront

When my furnace started making weird noises and running inefficiently, I panicked. With everything going on in my life, I’d completely forgotten to have my HVAC equipment serviced for an entire year. A whole year passed before my eyes before I remembered my HVAC system. After hearing the noises and realizing my mistake, I ran to the garage to find a clean air filter. I had to brace myself before opening the vent where the air filter was kept, because I knew it would be a sore sight. Of course, I was right. The air filter was covered in a thick layer of dust and debri, and it even smelled. Even after I put a clean air filter in its place, I knew my furnace wouldn’t be magically fixed. I called the HVAC company immediately, and got on the schedule for the following day. After the HVAC professional took a look at my furnace, he delivered bad news. My furnace needed to be completely replaced, because it was well over 15 years old and the full year without maintenance sent my HVAC equipment to the grave. I didn’t have the finances for a brand new furnace, so I had to go to the bank and request a personal loan. I hated the fact that I had to take out several thousand dollars at an 8% interest rate for the next 3 years, but I had no other choice. I couldn’t go without a furnace, and I didn’t have the money to buy one upfront. It’s my goal to have the loan paid off before the 3 years.
