I should have been aware of the condition of my insulation.

Being in construction, I am well aware of the different types of insulation and the job they do.

When I started having a problem in my home with my HVAC, I should have first thought about the insulation.

No, I went in a totally different direction. I called the HVAC company and told them I had a problem with my air conditioning unit. My house was clammy and I didn’t have good air movement. I worried that the airflow problem was because of the HVAC system. When the HVAC technician arrived, he told me that there wasn’t anything wrong with my AC unit. He pointed out that I had just had my maintenance done less than a month ago. I told him that I didn’t have air conditioning throughout the entire house. He asked me if I had ever thought about having Zone Control installed. I balked at this because my home was basically one large room. He asked if I had done an energy loss test. I could have smacked myself in the head. If it wasn’t the fault of my air conditioning unit, it had to have something to do with my insulation or the weatherstripping in my windows and doors. I started looking at the insulation in my home and I realized that some of it had become compressed. By installing new insulation and weatherstripping, I was able to stop my drafts and get more even temperatures in my home. My air conditioning was working well, but my insulation wasn’t. I still can’t believe I didn’t figure out what was happening, before calling the HVAC company.
